The development team at Rev Amplification experimented with using artificial intelligence (AI) to design a new effects pedal, and came up with an idea for a circuit based on an overdrive pedal released by a British amplifier manufacturer in the early 1990s. However, this did not work out at all, and the team ended up designing and developing the circuit in house as a transparent overdrive style
