The surface motifs are rooted in my study of Bassa Kwomo (Central Nigeria) pottery but reinterpreted through my Earth Tone decorating slips
Earth Tone Mug Virginia and LouisianaWheel thrown red stoneware clay mug decorated with refined clay slips called terra sigillata. I created these decorating slips from clay samples that I have foraged in different states over the years, or that were given to me by other potters. I also used slips that I made from commercially processed clays such as Redart. The green diamonds and interior are glazed. Holds 10 oz. Approximately 3. 5" tall, 3" diameter Microwave safe.
