They are sometimes called swamp donkeys, perhaps because of their long faces. Their sense of smell is incredible. Their hearing is very good, but their eyesight isn't the best. Living in the forest doesn't necessarily require the greatest vision. I was in the safety of the trees, as I have had to climb up one on occasion because of an aggressive
