描かれた時期 (1951 年~ 1952 年) 日本では戦後復興で、東京電力、日本電信電話公社が発足。次々に架空線 (電柱や鉄塔) が普及していった時代にあたります。世界的には核実験の黎明期。この植物の様なドローイングも、どこか核実験との関連を重ねてしまいます。このドローイングはチャコールで描かれている為、炭が手に付きます。この作者も手を真っ黒にして夢中で描いたのかも知れません。

この本の制作にあたっては、ビデオアーティストのアン自身もまた、中国語の描き下ろし作家として参加した。著者の双子が現実の意味から乖離しつつ現実世界とつながっていることを理解するために、自身も理解のできない中国語訳を見様見真似で手書きしたそうだ。著者に「寄り添う」よりも、更に一歩踏み込んだアプローチとして評価されるべきアクションである。
