I arrived at the trailhead with plenty of time before the colors of the sunrise would dominate the sky

This year was the record snowfall for the month of November on record

I was thinking where I would photograph the sunrise and thought that the bridge over a frozen South Fork Kishwaukee River and the peachleaf willow tree would be a good place to set up the tripod

The overnight snowfall creates this patterned lake as the morning suns first light illuminates Wildflower Lake

The early morning sunlight illuminates these beautiful bouquets of swamp milkweed flowers at Wildflower Park

The morning of February 1 I just happened to get lucky with that moment of perfect lighting along a frozen South Fork Kishwaukee River.
