In 1956 Joe Morello took over as the quartet's drummer in place of Dodge, and with his arrival the classic Dave Brubeck Quartet' was born. 'Jazz Goes to Junior College' is, therefore, a recording that shows a transitional phase of the quartet. It also marked a return to recording live concerts, of which this LP was a sequel
