I did a deep dive on trying to replicate the color of this canvas many years ago and after considerable experimentation the solution ended up being very simple

Nice original paint and stenciling

If you want to show the human side of the German army in WWII

There are a few loose stitches and a few beads may be loose

It reminds me of some of the WWI tins I have found

Presented by the City of Rochester New York Sept 4th 1918. Made by Bastion Bros. The stars on the top indicate how many sons in service and this medal is for three (most, of course, are 1 star and I have seen a 4 star before). Fairly rare to have three sons all serving in WWI. It is in good condition.
