The sugar bowl has a hairline and some discolouration on the bottom (please see picture) and the gold trim on the rim has worn off

The set was manufactured by W. H. Brittain at Alma Works, Sheffield under the trade name Hope Stainless Steel. This cutler first began manufacturing in Sheffield in 1892 and was last registered in 1974 which would mean that the company will have closed in 1974.
