Marjan underlay Ersari rug from BeshirA mid 20th century Kashan carpet from north central Persia. An elegant curvilinear design is worked on a cream field with a central floral medallion and curvy spandrels. The pile is soft and velvety with a slight gloss. Very good condition. Great court carpets were woven in Kashan during the safavid period but this virtually ceased after the Afghan invasion in 1722.
