Likely the wool broke or ran out while the glove was being made and they just put in some random wool to finish it off or splice broken wool

Vintage gray-blue (it resembles a Luftwaffe color) mittens

It is in good condition with nominal wear

The other end comes off as well (not sure if it is supposed to or if it needs re-glued)

There is no size tag but it measures about 21 1 4" (it is probably a size 21 1 2 that shrunk slightly). The red cross pin is marked Sterling MA. The hat is in OK condition; still wearable, but it does have flaws. The brim is slightly misshapen. There are a few scattered tiny moth nibbles. The worst area of mothing is two small holes on the underside of the brim. The
