Erebus Glacier Tongue landing the click of a shutterThe mighty Erebus Glacier Tongue flows into the frozen Ross Sea in Antarctica. These impregnable ice walls tower over the landscape and created the Great Barrier to early explorers like Shackleton. I have no evidence to suggest so, but I imagine this natural feature was the inspiration for The Wall in Game of Thrones. It is a bitter, tortured landscape so vast and so grand, that anyone who claims to have captured its essence is decieving themselves.
