Not sure who or when this thing was made, but it seems like maybe something that was made in the field like a sort of trench art thing. It does seem like the sort of thing a soldier might make and think would be useful to their situation. It is made from German parachute cord with the cloth at the center looking like deployment bag material. So whoever made this had a whole parachute to work from. There appears to be a rather hefty
