The woven "Hereke" inscription at one end and the attached woven tab with the number 5399 show that this was produced at the National Manufactory. Commercial rug production began in Hereke in about 1843 with the establishment of court weaving workshops. From the beginning, the weaving was of the highest quality with asymmetric dense knotting.
